Plaud Note AI Notetaker

Plaud Note AI Notetaker

The Plaud Note is a slim, credit-card-sized AI voice recorder that magnetically attaches to the back of your phone, capturing meetings, calls, and conversations with a single tap. Its sibling, the Plaud NotePin, is an ultra-light wearable version you can clip on as a pin, pendant, or wristband — designed for hands-free capture on the go. Both pair with the Plaud app to automatically transcribe recordings and generate AI-powered summaries, action items, and mind maps, turning spoken conversations into organized, searchable notes

What to know before you try it

1

Choose an AI membership plan. Starter (free) to Unlimited (paid)

2

Audio quality is low. The transcription is incredible but don't expect to use the audio file for public use cases like a podcast, etc.

3

Large template library. Plaud includes a template community, or you can create your own custom templates for final note results.

4

Create a dynamic mind map that breaks your notes into branches that can be opened for further details on a specific topic discussed.

Use cases

How we use it

We use Plaud every day to capture the conversations we don’t want to lose. It started as a way to record business phone calls when clients preferred audio over video meetings, but today it’s become part of our workflow for client calls, video meetings, conferences, speaking events, brainstorming sessions, and even church services. We pair it with custom AI templates to turn recordings into organized meeting notes, key takeaways, action items, and memorable quotes—helping us stay present in the conversation instead of worrying about taking notes.

Where this actually fits

Plaud can be useful anywhere important conversations happen. Business owners can use it for sales calls, discovery meetings, and client consultations. Leaders can capture one-on-one meetings, team discussions, and brainstorming sessions. Educators and trainers can record classes, workshops, or presentations for later review. Ministries and churches may find it helpful for sermon notes, leadership meetings, or volunteer training. If your work revolves around conversations, there’s a good chance Plaud can become part of your workflow too.

The honest breakdown

Pros & cons

What works

  • Exceptional AI transcription accuracy that saves hours of manual note-taking.
  • Lots of built-in AI templates for different types of meetings and conversations.
  • Create your own custom templates tailored to your workflow.
  • Compact, lightweight design that's easy to carry every day.
  • No cables or phone connections required while recording.
  • Wearable options with the NotePin (necklace, wristband, or clip) make it easy to record hands-free.
  • Excellent battery life with plenty of recording time between charges.
  • Makes it easy to stay engaged in conversations instead of focusing on taking notes.

What to watch

  • Audio quality is optimized for transcription, not professional recordings like podcasts or video production.
  • To get the most from the platform, you'll likely want one of the paid AI subscription plans, especially if you record frequently.
  • Like any AI transcription tool, it's still worth reviewing important transcripts for names, technical terms, or industry-specific language before sharing them.
  • The standard Plaud Note performs best in one-on-one conversations or small meetings. If you regularly record larger rooms or conferences, the Note Pro offers improved microphone performance.

Our experience over time

This isn't a one-time review. Here's what's actually happened as we've used it — updated as our experience evolves.

Purchased Plaud Note

Right out of the box, I was impressed. The Plaud Note felt like a premium product. From the clean packaging to the quality materials. I was especially surprised by how thin it is, about the size of a credit card, while still feeling solid and well-built. Setup was straightforward, the instructions were easy to follow, and it arrived ready to use within just a few minutes. The magnetic case and phone attachment was nice perk too.

Purchased Plaud NotePin

By January 2025, we added the Plaud NotePin to our workflow for Podfest, and it quickly proved its value. Wearing it as a simple necklace made it comfortable and unobtrusive, allowing us to stay fully engaged during sessions while it captured the conversations. The transcription quality was impressive, even recognizing different speakers, which made it easy to turn presentations and interviews into organized notes, blog ideas, social media content, and actionable takeaways after the conference.

NotePin Cruise Experience

One of our favorite use cases came during a cruise conference, where we invited speakers to wear the Plaud NotePin throughout their four-hour sessions. Afterward, we used one of our custom AI templates to organize the recordings into nearly 20 pages of structured content, including memorable quotes, key statistics, blog topics, audience questions, and actionable takeaways. Instead of starting from scratch, the speakers walked away with a library of content they had already shared naturally, ready to be repurposed into blogs, social posts, presentations, and future teaching materials.

Purchased Plaud Note Pro

We’ve now upgraded to the Plaud Note Pro, and it’s become the device we reach for every day. While the original Plaud Note remains excellent for phone calls and smaller meetings, the Pro has been a better fit for the larger conferences and workshops we now host. Its improved microphones do a great job capturing voices from across the room, even when speakers aren’t using a microphone. I also appreciate the new digital display for quickly checking battery life and the one-touch highlight feature, which lets me mark important moments during a recording for easy reference later. The added AI features and overall refinements make it a noticeable step forward, and it’s quickly become an everyday part of our workflow.

Plaud Desktop Release

When Plaud Desktop became available, it added another layer to our workflow. Instead of relying on the physical device for every virtual meeting, our team can now capture meetings directly from their computers using their own Plaud accounts. One feature I especially appreciate is the automatic meeting detection. When I join a video session, Plaud recognizes that a meeting has started and asks if I’d like to begin recording. It’s a simple feature that makes capturing meeting notes almost effortless. While I still prefer using my Plaud Note Pro for most recordings, Plaud Desktop has become a great option for our team and makes it even easier to document virtual conversations.
