We’re Here To Praise God

Use it for: Social, On-Air, Blog, Challenge

Before stepping on stage at the Jesus Generation Tour, a young boy named Victor was nervous. What Forrest said to him in that moment carries a message far bigger than one night on stage.

What we're seeing

A nervous kid, a quiet exchange, and a sentence worth repeating.

Victor was about to step on stage in front of thousands of people. You could see the nerves on his face. Forrest leaned in and didn’t tell him to get it right. He didn’t coach him on the words. He said something simpler: “Don’t worry about getting the words right. Just praise God.”

The breakdown
1

Victor was nervous and Forrest didn't try to fix that. He didn't tell Victor to calm down or be confident. He redirected his focus. That's leadership most of us could learn from, pointing people back to what actually matters instead of trying to manufacture the right feeling.

2

The instruction wasn't about the words. It was about the why. "Don't worry about getting the words right. Just praise God." That single sentence reframes the entire moment from a kid trying to perform to a kid free to praise God.

3

What we chase isn't what God wants. We chase the right words, the right timing, the right performance, the right outcome. God isn't asking for any of that. He's asking for participation. Victor reminded a whole arena what that looks like.
