Could AI Push Us to Become More Human?
As AI becomes more common in how we work, create, and even make decisions, it’s revealing something: People crave human connection, lived experience, and trustworthy voices.
The more AI we use, the more we’ll see those cravings grow.
Why This Conversation Matters
Recently, a client asked if I was concerned about the rise of AI.
My answer was honest: Yes… and no.
Yes, as people are increasingly turning to AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini instead of experienced pros, which means the advice they get might be missing that real-world touch. This is already changing up various jobs, with AI stepping in and leading to some roles disappearing. It’s clear that we’ll all need to adjust and evolve in the job market.
No. AI’s been a game-changer for us too, really upping our production, cutting costs, and broadening what we can offer. But, it’s not perfect. I like to think of it more as a sidekick, not a replacement for human smarts and experience.
I’ve tested it myself with code, content, and research. It sounds convincing, but when you’ve been in the trenches, you notice when something is off.
To someone without experience, it might seem like gospel. But over time, and after a few stumbles, they’ll begin to recognize the difference between surface-level answers and grounded strategy based on real human experiences.
What I love about AI is…
If we’re intentional, the time it saves us can actually make room for more human moments. It can free us up to have deeper conversations, invest in relationships, or take a walk with someone we’ve been meaning to catch up with.
That’s the real opportunity here, not to automate everything, but to reclaim space for the things that matter most, human connection and interaction. Both have been affected by technology before AI was even a thing.
Why People Will Choose Humans
Most of our clients still prefer connecting face-to-face or over video, whether it’s grabbing a bite to eat, catching up over drinks, or jumping on a Zoom call. They value the trust and clarity that comes from real, one-on-one conversations.
What strengthens those relationships is the consistency between how we show up online and how we show up in person. That’s also why many of them still choose a human connection over AI suggestions.
Yes, AI can offer a great starting point, but just like “best practices” it’s not always the best fit for every situation. We encourage our clients to use AI to generate ideas and explore options. We’ve even created our own AI tools for them to use, but we also remind them: you don’t have to navigate this alone.
The real opportunity isn’t in resisting AI, it’s in walking through the process together. That’s where trust is built, clarity is found, and better decisions are made.
The Risk of Illusion
It’s also important to talk about the risk of illusion that AI can create. Since generative tools became widely available, the internet has been flooded with new content. Suddenly, people are publishing articles on topics I never knew they had any experience with, almost like they became experts overnight.
That’s a real concern, and why I say:
“AI will push us to become more human.” – Brian Curee
Because until you sit across the table, look someone in the eye, and have a real conversation, you won’t truly know if what you’re reading, or watching is rooted in experience or just surface-level knowledge.
If that idea of illusion resonates with you, I wrote another piece called The Illusion of Success that shares a personal story on this very topic. Take a look when you have a moment.
Ways To Stay Grounded While Using AI
Again, I’m not against using AI. It has helped us:
- Research deeper
- Brainstorm more effectively
- Write with more polish (especially with grammar 😅)
- Speed up content creation
But here’s where we draw the line:
We don’t coach or write about anything we haven’t personally walked through (experienced).
That’s been one of our standards since we began coaching and consulting, and it’s never been more important than now.
So What’s the Next Step for All of Us?
- Don’t just consume information, ask where it’s coming from.
- Prioritize real conversations over digital impressions. Even social media is changing and focusing more on comments, shares, and DMs, which are all geared more towards authentic engagement and more meaningful interactions.
- Let your offline life match your online voice.
- If you’re using AI tools (like we are), be transparent and use them to enhance, not replace your lived (human) expertise.
In this new landscape, trust is the differentiator. And trust is built through honesty, consistency, and showing up human, over and over again.
Final Thought: Let’s Not Lose Ourselves in the Speed of Things
AI will keep getting faster. It’ll keep sounding smarter. But our job isn’t to compete with machines. It’s to stay grounded in what makes us human. Relationships, integrity, presence, and wisdom earned through experience.
